From Studio to Site is a series that takes a closer look at artworks chosen for client projects - beginning in the artist’s studio for an intimate look at their creative process, before exploring how the pieces come to life in their final setting.

For this feature, Daisy Billowes invited us into her studio on the Isle of Man to share a day in her artistic routine and reflect on the inspirations behind her work. Born in Athens, Daisy moved to the UK to study Fine Art at Newcastle University, before completing an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in London.

At the heart of Daisy’s practice lies a deep fascination with mythological women - figures from Greek mythology who are often defined by their relationships to gods and heroes. In her work, Daisy reimagines these women beyond the confines of their traditional narratives, capturing them in moments of serenity, self-possession, and quiet strength. Freed from the chaos of myth, they emerge as autonomous individuals with their own stories, emotions, and inner worlds.

For Daisy, painting is an act of exploration and discovery. Her process is fluid and ever-evolving, each piece leading naturally to the next. There’s a sense of play and openness in her approach - embracing spontaneity and a touch of chaos to create abstract, thoughtful portrayals of women in still, reflective moments.

In Canvas Wembley, Daisy’s work takes centre stage on the first floor pavilion, infusing the space with a vibrant, playful energy. Her piece not only animates the room but also mirrors the spirit of the building itself - dynamic, expressive, and alive with possibility.
